Chassis
The chassis serves as the internal framework of your vehicle, providing support for various components such as the wheels, engine, transmission, driveshaft, differential, and suspension. A weakened or damaged chassis can lead to a weaker vehicle overall.

Custom Exhaust
A motor vehicle's exhaust system consists of piping that guides exhaust gasses from the engine to the outdoors. While its primary purpose is the removal of exhaust gasses, it can be modified to enhance engine power, reduce pollution, and minimize noise. Achieving these goals necessitates undercar service installation of a custom-made exhaust system.

Differential Flush
The differential is a critical vehicle component that compensates for variations in travel distance between the inner and outer wheels during turns. Typically located at the rear and under non-four-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicles, differentials often do not receive the same level of attention as engines. However, it is essential to understand that differential failure equates to vehicle failure.

Differentials
Differentials serve as the components responsible for transmitting engine power to the wheels. A key function of the differential is to distribute power to the wheels while permitting them to rotate at varying speeds, thus earning its name.

Driveline
The driveline represents a vehicle section that connects the engine and transmission to the wheel axles. This component consists of powertrain parts excluding the engine and transmission. A driveline failure translates to an immobilized vehicle, as energy cannot be transmitted from the engine to the wheel axles.

Shock Absorbers
Shocks, or shock absorbers, are mechanical devices engineered to smooth out rough road surfaces. They achieve this by converting kinetic energy into another form of energy. Properly functioning shocks minimize the impact of traveling over uneven terrain, leading to an improved ride quality and enhanced vehicle handling.

Struts
Much like shock absorbers (shocks), struts serve to dampen the effects of road surfaces as you drive. By absorbing road shocks, struts enable passengers to experience a smoother ride. Struts differ from shocks in that they provide structural support for your vehicle's suspension.

Vehicle Undercoating Service
Protect the undercarriage of your vehicle investment - Cost is $300

Suspension FAQs

What happens if I only replace one strut or shock?

Replacing only one shock or strut can create uneven handling when changing lanes, turning, or driving over bumps because each side may respond differently. In most cases, Hammill's Automotive recommends replacing shocks or struts in pairs on the same axle for balanced handling and performance.

Are shocks difficult to replace?

Shock replacement can be straightforward, but some vehicles require additional components to be removed or serviced during the repair. Bring your vehicle to Hammill's Automotive in Indiana, and our professionals can inspect the suspension and determine what is needed.

How often should shocks be replaced?

Shocks may need replacement around 50,000 to 100,000 miles, although driving habits and rough road conditions can cause them to wear more quickly. If you notice poor handling, excessive bouncing, difficulty making smooth turns, or reduced ride comfort, have the professionals at Hammill's Automotive inspect your shocks.

Are struts difficult to replace?

Strut replacement requires proper tools and installation procedures, so it is generally best handled by a professional. After replacing front struts, Hammill's Automotive can also check the vehicle's alignment to help ensure proper handling and even tire wear.

What Our Customers Are Saying

I went there in October 2026 for a brake job (I had a weird noise when I braked), and because of a check engine light issue. They fixed both problems at a reasonable cost. Friendly people that I would highly recommend.

reviewiconCar & Truck Care, near Indiana, Indiana

My car broke down early Sunday morning on US 22 while I was traveling home to Indianapolis. AAA towed it to Hammills Automotive, and Eric contacted me Monday with the diagnosis: the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. He kept me informed throughout the process, completed the repair quickly, and had the car ready by Wednesday. The price was very fair, and they kindly held the car until I could pick it up Friday. Hammills turned a stressful situation into a positive experience. I highly recommend them—if I lived closer, they would be my go-to repair shop. Eric was great to work with.

I found this garage through a friend who's daughter had gone to school in Indiana and her boyfriend was from the area. I needed a place for my college son and daughter to go with their vehicle s theyhad problems. THANK GOD we choose this place!! They were ALWAYS wonderful- they got my children in every time they had an issue, even when the garage was fully booked (because of course, problems happen right before needing to drive home across the state) and were always helpful, respectful, kind, honest, and knowledgeable. They even drove my son's car to a different county for an emissions inspection because he needed it and they don't do those in Indiana county. If you have children attending IUP and you live far away, DEFINITELY SEND THEM HERE! They will take care of them. Thank you Hammill's for taking care of my children's vehicles for the past 4 years!!

Very good experience. Eric was very kind and professional. He got me right in on short notice, got my car fixed up, and I was back on the road in no time. He even ended up charging me a bit less than he quoted me due to the labor not taking as long as he expected.
